    What is Dermaplaning?

Similar to a chemical peel, dermabrasion is a procedure that removes fine wrinkles and/or minimizes scars on the skin. The difference between a chemical peel and dermabrasion, however, is the method used. Dermabrasion involves the surgeon utilizing a high speed rotating brush to remove the top layer of skin. The size and depth of the scars, as well as the degree of wrinkling, determine the appropriate level of skin that will be surgically sloughed.

Dermaplaning is used to treat deep acne scars with a hand-held instrument called a dermatome. The dermatome resembles an electric razor and has an oscillating blade that moves back and forth to evenly ‘skim off the surface layers of skin that surround the craters, or other facial defects. Both dermabrasion and dermaplaning can be performed on small areas of skin, or on the entire face. They can be used alone, or in conjunction with other procedures. Neither treatment, however, will remove all scars and flaws, or prevent aging.

Who can benefit from dermabrasion or dermaplaning?

Men and women of all ages can benefit from dermabrasion and dermaplaning. Important factors that help to determine the effectiveness of both treatments include the following: –

    • Skin type
    • Skin coloring
    • Medical history

    What is a dermablade?

Also known as dermaplaning, dermablading is a highly effective exfoliation treatment. The procedure uses a medical-grade dermablade to gently slough the surface of your skin. This process removes dead skin cells and vellus hairs, also known as “peach fuzz”.

What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?

    1. Removes dead skin cell build up
    2. Removes soft facial hair that traps dirt and oils
    3. Deeper product penetration
    4. Is great for all skin types
    5. Smooths out the skin
    6. Reduces the appearance of light scarring
    7. Helps to diminish the look of fine lines

Which is better microdermabrasion or Dermaplaning?

In my opinion, Dermaplaning yields quicker results. Dermaplaning offers some of the same exfoliating benefits as microdermabrasion, but the difference is that it also removes the velus hairs, or peach fuzz from your face.

Does your hair grow back thicker?

NO! It is an old wives tale that when shaving your face that your hair grows back thicker. Because it is all removed at the same time and grows slowly back at the same time, it may seem that it has grown back thicker. But actually growing back fuller or thicker is definitely not the case.

    What is the average cost?

Dermaplaning prices usually range from $65 to $150 and up. A Beautiful You Elite Spa only charges $65 for their dermaplaning treatment. They also offer it with a hydrafacial because it allows the other products to sink deeper into the skin for quicker results.

The perfect companion to your dermaplane treatment is a refreshing and deep cleansing hydrafacial.
